Ancient Hoi An — the city of lanterns

Tour from Da Nang

Basket boats, Old Town museums — 400 years of history under UNESCO protection

Ancient Hoi An and the Cam Thanh coconut jungle keep the memory of the area's trading past. Today people come for the round bamboo boats, walks among nipa palms and hundreds of colorful lanterns. By day basket boats spin along the canals. And in the evening Hoi An Ancient Town lights up with thousands of lights…

They say a Moon Dragon lives in the Thu Bon River. On full-moon nights it rises closer to the surface, and the water around it begins to glow gold. Fireflies flock to the light, and silk lanterns light up one after another along the bank. The Dragon swims toward old Hoi An, and for a few moments the river turns into a road of light.

Whoever catches the moon's reflection in it will take home a piece of the ancient town's magic.
